Miracle at St. Anna: an example of wasted potential

Miracle at St. Anna is historical fiction based on the novel by James McBride (who wrote the screenplay). It follows four members of a black Army squad caught behind enemy lines in a small village in Tuscany during the waning days of the war. The Germans have become desperate and are turning against their Italian allies and the spillover of this conflict reaches all the way into the seemingly remote hiding place where Staff Sergeant Stamps (Derek Luke), Sergeant Cummings (Michael Ealy), Corporal Negron (Laz Alonso), and Sam Train (Omar Benson Miller) are awaiting extraction.

Miss Julie: A grand start to the Mainstage

Kicking off this year's Mainstage Theatre season is August Strindberg's powerful work Miss Julie, as directed by senior directing major Brendon Votipka '09, who calls this play a "raucous clash of carnal desire and social power." Strindberg's play tells us the story of a young noblewoman who wrestles with the strains put upon her by the conditions of her social class and gender.
