The Mules brought their "A" game in a Centennial Conference match against the Swarthmore Garnet.
With great defense, excellent passing and a superb job killing the ball, the Mules easily defeated the Garnet in a mere three sets (30-23, 30-27 and 30-18).
Junior Julie Lauro had an incredible match with sixteen kills and eleven digs. She has now become the College's all-time leader in kills. Lauro's record of 1,350 kills surpassed the 1,336 career kills by Allison Verduin '99.
Lauro also has a career total of 970 digs and only needs 30 more to become the seventh player in College history ever to reach the 1,000 dig milestone.
"I'm very excited about the record," said Lauro, "It was a big accomplishment but a team effort."
Lauro knows a team effort when she sees it. Junior Mary Henning had a nice game with 38 assists and five aces.
Sophomore Kate Haggerty also had a big day with fourteen kills. Senior Monica Sella contributed three blocks on the defensive end.
With the notable win, the Mules now improved their record to 10-13 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial Conference.
The Mules have two more games against Centennial Conference opponents Franklin and Marshall College and Washington College to try to earn a spot in the playoffs.
Sella is hopeful about the team's chances: "If we just keep playing the way we have and everyone does their own job, we have a great chance to make the playoffs."
