Speaking of creating clubs, it is an easy, fun way to reconnect with people from your past. My roommate, interested in checking in with more people from his floor last year, created a club "3 Floor Walz 2003 and Adoptees" to get in touch with anyone he hasn't seen since freshman year.
Got a niche that you think only you can appreciate? Create a club after it and see how many people join. You'd be surprised, even if your club is the "Manatee Lover Association."
Of course there is the issue of stalking. Friends need to be confirmed if they are going to be added to your list of friends, and if you don't want anyone to find out you screen name or cell phone number, don't put it on your profile. It's as simple as that. Compared to the many forms of Internet communities which require a phone number and screen name, as well as an email address, and this site is much safer.
I have reconnected with tons of friends and find it incredibly nice to know that I know this many people in the world, and that this many people would have me as their friend. Sure, some of them are just acquaintances, but hey, having fifty-nine friends and counting is still better than none! I've started my own club, The Undead Poets Society, and am having a bit of fun with this latest craze. It beats the heck out of hearing someone whine about his or her ex in a Livejournal twenty-four-seven.
