Sophomore Jeff Stewart has averaged eleven rebounds a game this season, and the game against Swarthmore College was no different. The Mules pushed their record over the .500 mark with a victory over Swarthmore College. The game ended in a 63-56 Mules victory. This win brought their Centennial Conference record to 5-3. Overall, the Mules have an 8-7 record.

The Mules faced Matt Gustafson, the leading scorer of the Centennial Conference, and could not stop him in the first half. They allowed nineteen points in the first twenty minutes. Gustafson's performance helped guide Swarthmore to a 33-27 half-time lead.

In the second half, the Mules defense held the Garnet to 23 points overall. Swarthmore only completed 32 percent of their shots to the basket. The Mules held the Garnet's best shooter to one-of-seven shooting and five points in the second half.

Sophomore Jeff Stewart, who holds the Conference's number two position in scoring, hit the bench a few minutes into the second half due to foul trouble. The Mules trailed 42-37, but a fifteen point run gave them a lead which they held until game's end.

Senior Chase Licata kicked it off with a lay-up and drew a foul as well. Although he missed the foul shot, Sophomore Justin Fields caught the rebound and built the lead to five points. The next time down the court, Sophomore Chris Pothering nailed a three-pointer, adding to the lead.

The Mules defense continued to hold their ground, stopping Swarthmore virtually every time down in the last ten minutes of the game. With 22 seconds left to play, the Mules were holding strong to a 59-56 lead. Senior Ryan Bonda picked off a pass on the baseline and nailed a game-clinching lay-up. Licata raked in two more free throws to make the final score 63-56.

Stewart led the Mules in rebounds. He pulled in twelve, while Licata finished with twenty-two points and seven rebounds in the game. Stewart currently holds the record for most double-doubles in the Centennial Conference. He has had nine this season, sixteen in his career.

This past week, Stewart was named to the Conference Honor Roll for his performance in the game versus McDaniel College. Not only did Stewart average eleven rebounds, but he also had 26 points and an average of 2.3 steals.

The Mules head to second-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday and then host Haverford College on Wednesday. The Mules are tied for fourth place with Dickinson College.

Senior Donte Borden is confident that this win will set the team in the right direction: "We've had some ups and downs this season, but the one thing that has never changed is how hard we fight. It has kept us in close games, and kept us winning."
