Kristyn Brady may not know exactly what she wants to do after graduation, but she has many paths from which to choose. The senior, Muhlenberg Dance Association president has been involved in a myriad of on and off campus activities that all began with her first dance class when she was three years old.
Brady is a double major in dance and her self-designed major, costume theory and function. Her self-designed major incorporates theatre, dance and art classes in order to study costume design as an art form.
When asked what she wants to do with her future she replied, "I tell my Dad something different every week." She has thought about going into the fashion industry, costume design, interior design or perhaps graduate school for fashion design, which is a more degree driven business.
This summer she will work as a costume designer at Camp Walden, an all girl's summer camp in Denmark, ME. During one camp session eight musicals are performed for which Brady will design all the costumes.
She has spent the last four summers in Florida where her parents recently moved. She works in the entertainment department in Walt Disney World and has participated in Spectromagic, the Magic Kingdom light parade and Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade in Animal Kingdom. Brady also worked as assistant to the director in a Florida Arts Camp. Brady also serves as the dance counselor at the camp, which offers dance, drama, arts, computer and sports instruction.
She explained that she is always trying something new because she gets bored with things she has done in the past.
In the past, Brady served as a campus delegate and tour guide. She has also worked in the box office and is now a dance assistant. She choreographed a piece about baseball for the informal dance concert last spring and a piece examing post-its for the student dance concert this fall. Freshman year she was a City Space volunteer teaching drama to kids ages six to eight in an after school reach out program.
