Mules' changes not enough to defeat Jays

The Mules fell short when they faced Johns Hopkins University, the third ranked team in the Centennial Conference. The first time the two teams met this season, the Mules lost to the Blue Jays 91-64. This time, however, the Mules improved their losing deficit to a mere eight points.

Mules dominate first home meet

In the opening meets of the season, John Brodowski finished in the top half of the field in the long jump, the high jump and the 55m hurdles. This week, he finished three events in first and a fourth event in second. Brodowski's performance in the meet was characteristic of the rest of the team.

Men's lacrosse takes on new leadership

The upcoming season is looking bright for the men's lacrosse program, as Chris Bissinger, an assistant coach at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia for the last five years, was named head men's lacrosse coach. A 1995 graduate of Hampden-Sydney, Bissinger enjoyed success in both the classroom and on the lacrosse field.

Mules split victories

The Mules broke even this week in several duals against King's College and SUNY Maritime. King's won the last three bouts of the match to break free from a 15-15 tie to win 29-15, but the Mules rebounded to defeat Maritime, 39-9. The Mules (4-8) did not have much luck against King's in past Centennial Conference meets, so they were very satisfied with the result this week.

Sam: A closer look

Athletic Director Sam Beidleman first came to the College as a varsity letterwinner in football and track. After graduation in 1963, Beidleman coached football for thirteen seasons and (from 1970 to 1992) coached baseball. After a brief retirement, he returned in April 2003 as interim Director of Athletics until he was named Athletic Director in July 2003.

Mules lose in three games

The Mules are now 8-10, and 5-6 in Centennial Conference after they suffered three consecutive games on the road, first in a make-up game against Washington College, then to Ursinus College and Johns Hopkins University. The Mules defeated Washington by 21 points in their first match-up back in December, but fell short this past weekend.
