The Mules 60-54 win against Washington College (Md.) broke a seven-game losing streak. The Mules led for the first fifteen minutes; the Shorewomen then came back to tie the game.
After regaining the lead, the Mules lost it again and, with 12:42 left to play, went on a 13-3 run to regain the lead for good.
"Since we lost a few, it feels that much better to win, and the tone of the girls on the bench helps those out on the floor," said Junior Stephanie Collucini.
Junior Kristen Piscadlo had an assist and a steal in the run and added two three-pointers. The three-pointers were only two of Piscadlo's five that night. This ties her with Senior Gwen Doyle with 48 three-pointers this season. Doyle holds the College's record with 53 season three-pointers.
To add to Piscadlo's night, she grabbed a career- high seven rebounds, had four assists and four steals. Coluccini led the team with seventeen points. She and Junior Lacie Smith notched double-doubles as Coluccini pulled down eleven rebounds. Smith had ten points and eleven boards, making this her second straight double-double.
The Mules lost a close 58-53 game at Gettysburg College. The Mules were losing 37-25 in the beginning of the second half. At 2:24, they began a ten minute effort of tough defense and a 16-2 point run that would give them the lead. The 41-39 lead did not last; Junior Katie Eiden shot a three-pointer, and the Bullets led for the rest of the game.
Sophomore Meghan Courtney led the Mules with fifteen points while Coluccini led with eleven rebounds and four assists. Smith almost secured her third straight double-double, notching twelve points and grabbing eight rebounds. Doyle has scored a three-pointer in 49 consecutive games. She sank two against the Bullets.
After finally breaking their losing streak against Washington, the team suffered a close loss to the Bullets. Today, the Mules will have a home rematch against Gettysburg.
