With a 2-2 record the Muhlenberg Men's Basketball team took on the 23rd ranked Johns Hopkins on Sat., Dec. 2. The 6 - 0 Blue Jays have owned up to their reputation as preseason favorites in the Centennial Conference. An exciting first half witnessed a close battle as the underdog Mules grasped a slim lead for the first half. Junior Greg Pask sparked a lead in the first half by scoring a career high 16 points and posting six rebounds. Pask earned his sixth point of the game after he juked Hopkins Center Matt Grifin and hit a pull up jumper on the left of the lane. "Coach told me to take the open outside jumper, since the Blue Jays were sinking their big guys into the lane," Pask commented. While he says the game has given him more offensive confidence, he will continue to build on his success. The Mules led by four at the end of the first half.

Despite their first half success, the Mules could not close out the second half. The Blue Jays showed their true colors through their inside strength, proving their top ranking. Led by Matt Griffin's 15 points, on 6-11 shooting, the Blue Jays were able to take a lead in the second half and held off a late rally by the Mules to win 62-56. Once again the Mules were out-rebounded 43-31 and could not post any inside scoring. Muhlenberg also benefited from double digits points from Senior Chris Huber and from Captains Tom Scott and Chris Pothering. The Mules Next home game is against Washington College Saturday at 6:00.

Though they could not pull off the victory, the Mules made a statement about their ability to put up a fight. This game also included the most threes made in a game 21.
