The definition of the word inspiration reads as follows: The action of inspiring; the fact or condition of being inspired (in sense 4 or 5 of INSPIRE v.); a breathing or infusion into the mind or soul. (Oxford English Dictionary)

Classes have started and with them the beginning of the real winter weather. It is a great time to cuddle up on the couch, play a video game, watch the Super Bowl and hang out with friends. Add to this some warm Chai tea or a big bowl of chili and you have the makings of a great winter afternoon.

Everyone feels this way. Whether it is a favorite movie, a great book, or just an afternoon hanging out with friends, winter is a time when each of us finds our own way to hibernate.

But wait…there are still classes to attend, papers to be written, and ideas to be formed. If there is one thing a library can help with it is inspiration. When the ideas won't form, or you can't figure out how to come up with a solid theme for your paper, the librarians at Trexler can help.

It may start out as a quick question, but with creativity and a wider variety of resources you can embellish any paper from two pages to 20 with interesting information, solid theme development and colorful passages to make even the dullest topic fascinating.

Oh, and did I mention accuracy? At the library you can find resources that will not only back your points, but will also help you discern the accurate from the inaccurate from your latest Google search! Information comes in a lot of forms as well. Images, sound, DVDs, weblinks and more can take the dullest presentations and make them something special.

At Trexler, the variety of resources is as vast as your imagination, and we can help you find ways to incorporate them in papers, PowerPoints and podcasts. We know it is not just about finding a bunch of facts and figures; it is about telling the story that makes your argument convincing.

What about the movie? What about the hanging out on the couch? The couch, movie and a great novel or two are things we can help with. Between the terraces and the Muhlenberg Room you are sure to find a couch where you can layout your ideas (learning can be messy sometimes) and talk them over with a friend.

If you need a great novel to escape the winter chills, plan a little D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) time with one of the New York Times Bestsellers available for checkout in the Muhlenberg Room. If you need a movie, visit the AV Alcove for a classic film noir, an interesting foreign film or a light comedy.

So, stop by Trexler for a little inspiration on your next hibernation day--before the winter papers start interrupting your winter pleasures.
