Responsibility: Is it in you?

To the Editor:

Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world where everyone was honest, took responsibility for their actions and did not play the blame game? Currently, we do not have regulations holding our elected officials n Student Council to their word.

Like true politicians, these elected officials in Student Council can talk a lot, but do not adequately represent the Student Body with their actions. Students should be concerned that progress is not being made by the people whom they have elected.

There are some members making a difference, however, their voices are too soft to be heard by these loud apathetic students. It is your duty in the next election to vote for people, not just your friends, whom you believe will best suit your needs.

Focus on your own class. Class of '07 - woo hoo senior pub night. Is that it? Class of '08 - wow, we really enjoyed the repetitive sales of t-shirts. Class of '09 - what was going on with that Boom Boom Room? Class of '10 - please do not follow your elders.

A few words to remember when you go to the polls: Remember you are electing students to represent you. Ask yourself, am I truly being represented or are you second to someone's agenda? Keep in mind there are still few effective representatives currently in the system. I have been to several meetings and have felt like an outsider to an elitist social group. Ask questions and come to your own conclusions. Change must happen. Lead the way.
