The College faced an intense week on the mat. With a fall to Kings last Wednesday (26-13), the wrestlers bounced back Saturday defeating both Merchant Marine (33-7) and Stevens (36-15).

Wednesday was a trial for the College coming out with only four individual victories. Among them, winning by decision, were sophomore Rob Kein (141 lb.), senior Matt Loesch (197 lb.) and junior Joe Tartar (Heavyweight). Sophomore Justin Fitch (174 lb.) defeated his opponent with a major decision of 15-5. The team was challenged, but proved a will to win this past weekend.

Junior David Lavin (165 lb.) commented, "Wednesday was a tough match. We didn't match up well with King's, but it exposed some of our weaknesses and showed us what we needed to work on for the weekend, and we were able to improve and win in the conference matches this weekend."

The College faced Centennial Conference opponents Merchant Marine first on Saturday. With a final score of 33-7 great contributions were made by many of the College's wrestlers. Sophomore Billy Hall, wrestling at 131 lbs., set the bar high with a pin in 1:18 seconds. Next came Kein crushing his opponent 16-0. Junior Joe DeCampo (149 lb.) was victorious after a pin in 1:43. Lavin battled for a win ending on top 9-7. Fitch gained more points for the team with a win in overtime (3-1). Sophomore Matt Horn (184 lb.) won by a major decision of 12-2. Rounding out the victories at the upper weights were decision wins by Loesch (14-7) and Tartar (4-0). Muhlenberg added a CC win and left the Merchant Marines at 3-2 in the conference.

The second bout of the day came against Stevens when the College refused to give them a win. As a small team, Stevens forfeited two matches one to Fitch and the other to Loesch, leaving both wrestlers 2-0 for the day. Several others ended with undefeated records that day. Hall came out with his second pin of the day. Decampo, this time wrestling the 157 lb. weight class also pinned both of his opponents. Horn took his second victory by tech. fall winning 20-3 and Tartar took his with a 15-4 win.

The College, as of Jan. 28, is undefeated against CC rivals (4-0) and stands with a respectable overall record of 4-2-1. They face two more CC teams this week. Saturday they will battle it out against Washington & Lee (3-2, 5-3). Wednesday's loss took the team to outstanding wins on Saturday proving the old cliché, "It is not how far you fall, but how high you bounce."
