Hey readers! I hope that you have all been staying inside with a special (or even not so special) someone and keeping warm.

You know, just because it is frigid outside, doesn't mean that your love life has to be! There are plenty of ways to chase away these wintertime chills and replace them with hot, passionate fun!

Ladies, try this one sometime: Ask a guy for his number. The old standard dating rule goes as follows: Guys ask girls for their numbers. Guys call first. Well, I am here to let you all know that it is 2007 and women need to assert themselves in the dating world, even if it is by taking a small step such as getting a guy's digits.

It will show him that you are interested in him, and more importantly that you are an independent woman who knows what she wants and gets it when she wants it. If you are a girl who would never think of asking a guy for his number, just remember to take the extra initiative and it may pay off one day. Besides, you'll never know if you never try.

Guys: A lady asking for your number does not jeopardize your masculinity. If anything, it means this girl likes you enough to make sure she gets your info so that she can see you again. You know what it is like to put yourself out there and ask for someone's number, so imagine how this woman is feeling asking for yours!

A lot of men seem to think that if the girl calls first, it means she is needy or desperate. Why does this rule apply to women calling men and not the other way around? I say that this idea is total crap. We are all college students who just want to connect with other people, trying to meet someone we can actually have a conversation with and not want to kick out of our bed in the morning. Therefore, don't discriminate against a woman who is more aggressive than others.

Ladies and Guys: Do something fun and unexpected. Challenge the dating rules around you. I mean, you could go on using the same old system forever, but without ingenuity and guts, we might all still be doing our homework by candlelight.
