The College took a win over Messiah 23-17. Both seniors made it a grand finale, each pinning his opponent. Tenenhaus reflected, "It felt great going out there in front of the home crowd for a last time, I wanted my last match to end on a high note and it did. I was also happy I got to share a winning night with Loesch."
The match began at the 125 lb class giving senior Michael Tenenhaus the chance to start the team off right. After 1:49, Tenenhaus had pinned his opponent, his first pin of the season and fourth in his career. The pin gave the College a 6-0 lead.
Sophomore Billy Hall (133) wrestled a challenging match. At the end of third, period Hall was down 13-12. His riding time gave him the point to take the match into sudden death overtime. Hall got a takedown after 17 seconds, receiving three points for the team. The College was up 8-0 after a misconduct point was subtracted.
Junior Joe DeCampo (149) won by a decision of 5-2. The College led Messiah 11-6. The middleweights put forth tough opponents for the team. Messiah took wins in the three weight classes following, putting the College down 17-11.
It wasn't until 184 lb class that the College saw another win. Sophomore Matt Horn battled for three periods. He was behind 3-2 until the final few seconds when he got a takedown. The crowd responded with a collective jump out of their seats as Horn won the close match 4-3.
At 197 lb Loesch stepped onto the home mat for the last time. He stepped off after only 2:59, having pinned his final dual-meet opponent. Another six points were given to the College. This made his 22nd career pin. Loesch now holds the College's third best all-time winning percentage.
Junior Joe Tartar finished the night on a high note taking a decision win of 4-1 over his opponent. The team defeated Messiah by a final score of 23-17.
Loesch commented, "I couldn't have asked to go out in any better way, seeing T-Unit [Tenenhaus] go out there and get a great pin to start us off and seeing the team keep us in a position to win against a great team, finally getting my shot and getting a pin to take the lead, and then watching Tarter finish the match to take the win...all before a great crowd. You couldn't ask for more in your last dual meet ever."
