As an organization that relies heavily on Student Council to work with us to generate ideas and keep students informed, we feel that the answer to the question, "Who should be the next Student Body President?" lies in the idea of who can pull Council together and get the respect that they need. While we value all three candidates, we feel that one can do this better than the rest. The Editorial Board of The Weekly, while recognizing the strengths of all candidates, endorses Scott Gordon '08 to be the next Student Body President.

Gordon, who has been the 2008 Class President for the past three years, has the experience and the much-needed respect to fill this position. He has proven himself to be an innovative thinker and a valuable asset to Student Council as well as a well-rounded student and all-around campus leader. Gordon serves as a Student Advisor, Tour Guide and is an active member of Cardinal Key Society. "Sometimes you have to think outside the box and do something different," boasted Gordon during his opening statement. Gordon's plans for the upcoming year include: the addition of a coffee kiosk in the Library, enabling meal plans to be used at local restaurants, making flex compatible with soda, vending and laundry machines, bringing ZipCar (a rental car service) to campus and instituting a pub in The Red Door Café. Okay, so maybe that's a few things, but they are all feasible tasks, some of which are already in the works.

Matt Fash '09, is also a campus leader, serving as 2009 Class President this past year and as a Student Advisor. He also started the Pep Band and Campus Watch Rangers and continues to actively lead and participate in both. We feel that his drive and determination to start new things is great, for a Representative, but not necessarily for a Student Body President who will ultimately be forced to lose his voice on Thursday nights. David Dolan '08, a Resident Advisor, has been quick to criticize over the past few weeks and although we realize that an outside perspective and a fresh approach could bring great things to the College, we believe that some experience is key to effectively represent and voice the opinions of the Student Body.

While all candidates aim to strengthen the bond between Student Council and the Student Body we feel that Scott Gordon has the most potential to foster growth.
