Another season in the books for Women's Basketball

After losing three in a row, the records were re-set and the Mules traveled down to McDaniel to play Dickinson in the Centennial Conference semi-finals. The Mules received some good news before the game that Ursinus had beaten number one McDaniel and would advance to the finals. However, the number three seeded Mules would still need to win their game before even thinking about the number four seeded Ursinus Bears. Muhlenberg had quite the challenge in front of them as the Dickinson Red Devils had owned the Mules, winning both regular season matchups and also had the fourth ranked defense in Division III.

The first half saw the defensive minded Red Devils jump out to a early lead, scoring off turnovers forced by their full court pressure defense and forcing misses from the Mules. The Mules, without junior point guard Abra Like, were forced to put sophomore Lauren Boyle out of position and in charge of the offense. Boyle, always a competitor, gave it her all but had five of the Mules 12 first-half turnovers. She also led the Mules in first-half scoring with a total of four points. It was evident early on that the Mules would have to come from behind in this one. The end of the first half saw the Red Devil Defense hold the Mules to 16 points on 27% shooting, including 0-4 from behind the arc, a weapon the Mules have successfully used all season.

The second half was not any better for the Mules. They fell behind as many as 21 points and continued to struggle shooting. They shot 25% in the second half from both the field and beyond the arc. They would play some better defense, holding the Red Devils without a field goal for the last 6:30, but it was too little too late, losing 49-35.

The Mules were led in scoring by senior Meghan Courtney with nine points and rebounds by Boyle who had seven of them to go along with her four assists. It was a disappointing end but a great run for the winningest class in Mules Women's Basketball history. We will miss Emily Wright and Courtney, Co-Centennial Conference player of the year.
