After a solid start to the 2007 season, Muhlenberg Volleyball has fallen to a record of 5-6, thanks to two tough losses against DeSales and McDaniel.
On Tues., Sept. 11, the team traveled to DeSales, only to be greeted with their third consecutive loss. The Mules fought hard, but were swept by DeSales, losing three relatively close games. Leading the Mules in the effort were senior Jess Anselmi in kills with 11, junior Danielle Losonci in digs with 14, junior Megan Eiser in assists with 25, and junior Ally Ivaniski in blocks with 3.
Next up was a match against a tough McDaniel team. Again losing in three games, the Mules were unable to snap their losing streak. Sophomore Liz Dean had a strong match though, recording 9 kills and 3 blocks. Ivaniski slammed in 3 aces, and once again Eiser led in assists with 18.
Not to be forgotten in the loss was senior Megan Young, who with her 23 digs against McDaniel secured her place in team history. She now has recorded 1,021 digs in her career, making her just the ninth player in Muhlenberg history to pass the 1000 mark.
While the team has hit a rough patch, they have the remainder of the long season ahead of them, and plenty of talent to make up for a couple of lost games. They will no doubt get back on track.
