On Tues., Oct. 2, local rival Moravian College (11-7) defeated Muhlenberg Volleyball (7-13) in a close match resulting in a sweep. The two teams were evenly matched, with strong hitters and scrappy defensive play on both ends. However, it was Muhlenberg's subtle mistakes and lack of strong defense against Moravian's top hitters that lead to their defeat. The first game was a back and forth, point for point struggle in which Moravian finally pulled out four points ahead to clinch the game. In the second game, Moravian pulled out a lead and finished ahead 30-22. In the third game, the Mules captured an early lead; however, during crunch time the Mules faltered and Moravian caught up and pulled out a nail-biting win by a score of 32-30. This was their second loss to Moravian this season as well as the 10th time in a row losing to them.

The Mules, however, put up an excellent fight and sophomore Phylicia Lee ended the game with a new career high of 20 kills. Junior Megan Eiser added 40 assists to make her career total 1,243 and senior Megan Young kept up 21 digs to make her new total 1,157.

This weekend proved to be very successful for the Mules as they took on Washington and Delaware Valley on Saturday. The Mules defeated Washington in the first match 3-1 with a large contribution from Eiser who had a triple double. Eiser lead the team with 37 assists, 11 digs and 11 kills. Senior Jess Anselmi contributed 20 kills in this match. In the next match against Delaware Valley, the Mules also won in four games. In a 8-8 tie in the second game, junior Danielle Losonci served nine points and sophomore Christina Cangelosi served seven aces to take control of the match and pull out a victory.
