Junior tailback John DeLuca stole the show again, as he ran for a career-high 188 yards and two touchdowns, running up his total to 908 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns (he also has 1 receiving touchdown and 1 passing TD). He also has a lot of help from the people around him.
A lot has changed with the Field Hockey Team since the Muhlenberg community left for Fall Break last week. The Mules had been tied for first place in the Centennial Conference with #7 Johns Hopkins (7-0) until the two teams met in Baltimore on Sat., Oct. 13.
Muhlenberg Cross Country, after taking a two-week break coming off its strong showing at the Paul Short Run, picked up where they left off. On Sat., Oct. 13, the team headed into the DeSales Invitational for their final invitational meet before the Centennial Conference Championships, scheduled for Sat.
The Volleyball team was busy over Fall Break. While the majority of us returned to our homes, the Lady Mules traveled to California to take on two teams: Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont. In the match against Pomona, Megan Young led the team in both assists and blocks with 13 and 3, respectively.
Senior Maura Hendsey was ecstatic to come play soccer at Muhlenberg. She had always been geared to play at the collegiate level, but unfortunately her high school team in East Windsor, CT would never give her the competitive edge that she desired. "My high school soccer team was horrible," she sighed.
The Muhlenberg Women's Rugby Team went into their last game of the regular season undefeated, and they held up their perfect record by beating Lehigh 43-10. Lehigh was also undefeated before their loss to Muhlenberg. Christie Pfeiffer ('10) and Daniella Goodarz ('09) each put two trys on the board for the Mules.
# 2 Boston College @ # 8 Virginia Tech Well, the weekend starts early, as this game is on a Thursday Night, but we'll forgive the ACC this once. Although this game is being touted as the biggest game of the week, I just don't think it will live up to the hype.
With the end of the regular season in sight, the Muhlenberg Soccer Teams look to gain momentum, but it won't be easy. On. Wed., Oct. 10, the Women's Soccer Team took on a tough opponent in Swarthmore. The Mules were able to take the lead on a goal from freshman Valerie Patriarca, who converted on a penalty kick at the 58:21 mark.
