It was there that the Mules suffered their first Conference loss to the Blue Jays, 4-1. The only goal came from sophomore Nicki Notarianni in the middle of the second half. Presently, Hopkins continues to lead the CC with a record of 7-0.
The situation became brighter for the Mules on Wed., Oct. 17, when they played a non-Conference-away-game against the University of Scranton. The team was able to come home victorious in a 3-1 win. Senior Kelly Shetron contributed in some way to all three goals, securing two assists as well as her own goal in the first half. Sophomore Kristen Sabia and senior Nikki Rhoads also scored, each one off of a Shetron assist. At the moment, Shetron holds the record for most assists on the team this season; she is also ranked 2nd in Muhlenberg Field Hockey history for assists in one season.
The Mules started out on Sat., Oct. 20 with a Centennial Conference record of 6-1, which was good enough reason to be hopeful for another Conference win against Franklin & Marshall on the road. However, the Diplomats were able to score twice during the game - goals which were unanswered by the Mules. The team returned home on Saturday night with another loss.
Currently the Mules are tied for 3rd place in the CC with Gettysburg, who they will play at 7p.m. on Fri., Oct. 26 at home. For the second week in a row, the team will be forced to play in a showdown for their current Conference standing.
