The time is 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Homework is done, everyone in the house is relaxing, watching television, and getting ready to go to sleep after a long day at Muhlenberg . I also participate in the end of the day activities - with one major difference. It is at this time that I throw on a sweatshirt, grab my keys, and make my way over to Dunkin Donuts-for a coffee, of course. As I walk through the doors of Dunkin Donuts, the sound is music to my ears - "hey buddy," "busy day today? or "you want donuts?" and "skim milk or 2 % tonight?" Sonny and Michael - my two faithful servers at Dunkin Donuts, have become two great friends. Almost every night, Monday through Thursday, we catch up, talk about college-life and then they try to convince me to take boxes of donuts home, and I drink my coffee. Now one may ask why I would drink a cup of coffee every night, before going to bed. Actually, without that coffee I cannot go to sleep. Coffee has become an essential tool on which I rely heavily to sustain me throughout my entire day. My first cup is by far the most important of them all; it is that cup, which I obtain in the Life Sports Center, that kicks off the day officially. Then comes the after-lunch cup that I purchase in Seegers Union at Java Joe's, which is of great importance. The after-lunch coffee is remarkable because of how recharged it leaves me, ready to begin the tasks that await me every afternoon. Then comes my pre and post-dinner cups of coffee, a wonderful appetizer and dessert drink in my book! Finally my evening cup of coffee arrives around 10:00, which is a completely therapeutic experience. It is something I wait for and that brings me tranquility after a high-strung day on this campus, and something I cannot go a single day without. It is safe to say that I am officially a coffee addict. My parents are coffee addicts and now I am also completely reliant on this beverage. My friends make fun of me and even Sunny and Michael over at Dunkin' Donuts get such a kick out of my programmed arrival each night-and yet, it is an addiction that I am not willing to give up any time soon. This drink and the caffeine that it provides me with, are parts of me and I just would not be the same if I didn't have my cup of coffee near by, at any point during the day or evening. David Letterman once said, "Way too much coffee. But if it weren't for the coffee, I'd have no identifiable personality whatsoever." Coffee without a doubt contributes to my personality. Believe me, you will know if I haven't had my regularly scheduled caffeine fixes.
