Brynnmarie Dorsey, Director of Student Health Services, invited the Hellwig Diabetes Center, Tobacco Treatment Program, Lehigh Valley Hospital Regional Heart Center, Sacred Heart Hospital, St. Luke's Center for Advanced Gyn Care, Allentown Health Bureau, Planned Parenthood, Coalition for a Smoke-Free Lehigh Valley, St. Luke's Sports Medicine Fellowship, Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley, Sodexho, Colleges Against Cancer, Crime Victims Council, Senior Solutions, and Muhlenberg College Health Services to our campus for the College's annual Health Fair last Thurs., Jan. 24. The fair took place in rooms 108 to 110 in Seegers Union from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The Health Fair first started at the College in 2006 and has been occurring every year for the past three years. It consists of different vendors from the surrounding Lehigh Valley area, which provide blood sugar and cholesterol screening, body fat measurements, blood pressure screenings, and other health related information. Dorsey explains that "the goal of the Health Fair is to promote wellness."

The fair is designed so that students, faculty, and staff can receive information on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and can also have the resources to take basic health tests. The cholesterol and blood glucose screenings proved to be the most popular station students. The fair was a success, but Dorsey reported that more faculty and staff attended the fair than students. Dorsey hopes that next year's event will have a better student turn out, creating a better sense of health awareness on campus.
