For most students, Mike Bruckner is a faceless name, a name that appears every morning in their email inboxes around 9:04 a.m. announcing the day's events. It's clockwork and it's always there, even on Sundays.

So who is behind this mysterious name and how does he always know what's going on around campus?

I recently sat down with Mike Bruckner, Vice President of Public Relations, to see exactly who this man is and find out why he knows so much about what's going on at Muhlenberg.

As Vice President of Public relations, what do you do exactly?

I oversee a lot of different areas: the bookstore, WMUH, and the Board of Associates of business and civic leaders trying to foster better relations between Muhlenberg and the community.

I also oversee the Woman's Auxiliary group who regularly contribute to projects on campus. In my building, I oversee the sports information office and all the publications we do.

We have a quarterly magazine, an annual report, and I help with content, but not technology, of the website and other forms of media. Through those outlets, we try to promote the positives about Muhlenberg's staff and students."

What brought you to Muhlenberg?

The job brought me to Allentown. And really, I wanted to get back on a college campus. There's something about being on a college campus and being around kids that keeps you young. I missed that. My criteria were to be on a college campus, at a small school on the east coast. I wanted to be at a school where I thought I could make a difference.

What keeps you coming back each year?

A couple things: first and foremost, the students keep you young. Second, on any given day I could have lunch with a sports coach, then the next day with a faculty member from the math department, the next with the president. So everyday is different, there is a lot of variety and that's what keeps this fun. But it's the people, mostly.

What's the worst part of your job?
