This week, junior Mike Bernardini was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year. Bernardini averages 14.3 points per game and has played over 30 minutes each game. He is the best free throw shooter on the team, currently shooting 82.2 percent from the stripe. He is also ranked ninth in the Centennial Conference for the most three-pointers with 33 this season.

The Muhlenberg Men lost their second straight game this week, 72-57, at Swarthmore. Although the Mules were ahead by two at the half, the Swarthmore Garnets came out ready to play in the second half, outscoring the Mules 41 to 24. Sophomore Ryan Foster scored 14 points and had a career high 4 blocked shots during the game. Fellow sophomore Obi Nwizugbo added another nine points with Bernardini scoring 11.

Sat., Feb. 16 the Mules had a tough game against one of the top teams in the Conference, Johns Hopkins. The game was very physical and the Mules played strong. However, they were still defeated by the Blue Jays 62-47 for the 22nd time in 24 games.

The Mules played well in the first half and only trailed by one point at halftime. But the Mules scored only 22 points in the second half compared to Johns Hopkins' 35. Foster and sophomore Peter Barnes were the high scorers for the Mules contributing a combined 27 points.

Even though the Mules lost two games this week, they are still in contention for the fifth and last Centennial Conference playoff spot.

The Mule's next, and final, game is on Sat. Feb. 23 at home against the 21-2 Ursinus Bears.
