Five members of the Muhlenberg track and field teams, four women and one man, were named athletes of the week by the Centennial Conference. The four women – seniors Kimberlee Yalango and Nicolette Miller, sophomore Nicki Cronin and junior Erica Bash, left to right in the picture at left – combined to set a CC record of 9:33.
The women, playing at home against winless Bryn Mawr, won for the second time in as many days, 71-39. Themen traveled to defending CC runner-up Dickinson and lost, 79-60, but are still squarely in the midst of the playoff picture. The women have never lost to Bryn Mawr, and it was clear early on that the streak wasn't going to end this time.
The women's basketball team is sixth in the Mid-Atlantic in the first regional rankings of the 2011-12 season released by the NCAA. The committee that determines these rankings is the one that will ultimately award bids to the NCAA Tournament.
