Student Council, Alumni Relations and Cardinal Key Society all collaborated last year to bring back SPIRIT Week, a tradition that had not taken place at the College for 15 years. Last year's week of events was an overall success, leading Student Council to sponsor this year's week of events leading up to Homecoming Weekend. Katie Bemis '09, Student Council Representative, is the Chair of the SPIRIT Week Committee for the second year. The Committee is responsible for organizing the events that will kick off on Mon., Sept. 24 with an Athlete Auction. Students will be able to "bid" on various student athletes to go on a date with. The bid money pays for a dinner date.

On Tues., Sept. 25 the traditional Powder-puff game will be held on the turf of Scotty Wood Stadium. Teams will be divided by class and coached by football players.

Members of Student Council will be in Garden Room serving food for a Council Catering event on Wed., Sept. 26.

Wednesday night dinner will be moved outside under the tent in the East Quad on Thurs., Sept. 27 where numerous student performers will play.

Lastly, on Fri., Sept. 28, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear grey and red to show 'Berg spirit. Friday night will be the Pep Rally at 9:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall where the cheerleaders and various student dance groups will perform. The Pep Rally will be followed by a bonfire on Library Lawn.

Most of Homecoming Weekend events will take place on Sat., Sept. 29 as many of the College's alumni return to campus. The Football Team will play Johns Hopkins at 1:00 p.m.. The Homecoming dance will be held in Garden Room from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Saturday night.

"We're working hard to bring back an old tradition. We've rearranged some activities from last year to try and make SPIRIT week full of events that will be fun for everyone. We're hoping to see a big turn out from all members of the College community to promote a successful and high-spirited Homecoming Weekend," said Bemis, on behalf of the SPIRIT Week Committee.
